Biobased Packaging Materials

Biobased Packaging MaterialsBiobased materials are those that are derived from natural plant starches. These advanced biobased plastics such as PLA and PHA can be surprisingly cost competitive while also offering a range of benefits for the production process, application and the environment.

Biobased Material Offerings

Polylactide (PLA) is a transparent plastic produced from corn or dextrose that can easily be thermoformed for a wide range of applications.

Produced in nature by bacterial fermentation of sugar or lipids, PHA can be formulated in a variety of ways in order to produce different properties. PHA is also unique in that it can be a biodegradable material.

TerraPET is a proprietary blend of PET and 30% plant based material, ideal for blisters, clamshells, trays and other thermoformed applications.
